To Blog or not to Blog...

Students today have grown up with technology.  Being that I am somewhat older, I consider myself more of a technology immigrant.  I never grew up attached to a computer, and have yet to figure out even the simple tasks like blogging.
So when I think and ponder on how, as a future teacher, blogging can be used as a tool, it seems like a foreign concept.
With the influx of technology in schools and life in general, blogging will be a beneficial way for me as a teacher to keep students involved in class.
Gone are the days of having to send homework home with a students friend because they have been sick.  BLOG IT! - What a great way to help students take the drivers seat in their own education.
Having and incorporating a class blog will help to keep students on task, help to minimize the "I didn't know what to do" factor.  Blogs could even help a class grow closer together in a digital community.
Blogs can help me as a Teacher to identify to my class on levels that they are comfortable.
Shoot - I could even have new things posted on a daily basis!  I could post videos, class presentations, homework assignments, course outlines - EVERYTHING.
I am somewhat excited about this concept, and the more I learn about how blogs work and what they can be used for, the more I think that blogs are a great classroom tool.
